Scientific and technical journal Izvestiya VUZ. Applied Nonlinear Dynamics is an original interdisciplinary publication of wide focus. The journal is included in the List of periodic scientific and technical publications of the Russian Federation, recommended for doctoral thesis publications of State Commission for Academic Degrees and Titles at the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, indexed by RSCI. The journal is published in Russian (English articles are also acceptable, with the possibility of publishing selected articles in other languages by agreement with the editors), the articles data as well as abstracts, keywords and references are consistently translated into English.

First and foremost the journal publishes original research in the following areas:

1. Bifurcation in Dynamical Systems

2. Applied Problems of Nonlinear Oscillation and Wave Theory

3. Deterministic Chaos

4. Nonlinear Waves. Solitons

5. Autowaves. Self-Organization

6. Innovations in Applied Physics

7. Quantum Chaos

8. Nonlinear Dynamics in Action

9. Modeling of Global Processes

10. Nonlinear Dynamics and Neuroscience

All articles are consistently sent for independent, anonymous peer review by leading experts in the relevant fields, the decision to publish is made by the Editorial Board and is based on the review. In complicated and disputable cases it is possible to review the manuscript twice or three times.

The journal publishes review papers, educational papers, related to the history of science and technology articles in the following sections:

11. Reviews of Actual Problems of Nonlinear Dynamics

12. Nonlinear Dynamics and Humanities

13. Science for Education

14. History of Nonlinear Dynamics. Personalia

15. Methodical Papers in Nonlinear Dynamics

16. Book Review

17. From Books and Journals

18. Student’s Bookshelf

There is a special category "Debut" for young authors who are willing to publish their first serious scientific study.

The journal Editorial Board  includes leading Russian and foreign scientists whose range of interests covers all of the specified research areas. The chief editor is academician of Russian Academy of Sciences, member of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences Yu. V. Gulyaev, chief editor deputy is Corresponding Member of Russian Academy of Sciences D. I. Trubetskov and Professor D. A. Usanov.

During the journal’s existence a number of special editions was published, among them are thematic issues:

          • Nonlinear Dynamics in Nizhegorodskiy University (editor V. D. Shalfeev)

          • Nonlinear Dynamics of Living Systems (editor Yu. M. Romanovsky)

          • Nonlinear Waves, Chaos and Patterns in High Frequency Electronics (editor D. I. Trubetskov)

          • Problems of Nonlinear Hydrodynamic Stability (editor P. S. Landa)

          • The Role of Noises in Nonlinear Dynamics (editor V. S. Anishchenko)

          • Nonlinear Dynamics of Laser and Optical Systems (editor V. V. Tuchin)

          • The Youth Fix on Nonlinear Dynamics (editor V. S. Anishchenko)

          • Nonlinear Dynamics in Education (editor D. I. Trubetskov)

Also the Editorial Board releases results of scientific schools and conferences held at Saratov State University.

The issue on optical systems was translated into English and published as a collection of articles –Proceedings of SPIE, 1997. Vol. 3177. Several volumes of the journal are published in English. One of them is Chaos, Fluctuations and Structures in Dynamical Systems. 2003. Vol. 3, (editor V.V. Astakhov) and it contains articles by leading experts in nonlinear dynamics from Germany, USA, England and Russia. Special issue Nonlinear Dynamics in Education (Vol. 4, 1997) to some extent is quite unique: it contains results of teaching various aspects of Nonlinear Dynamics in a number of Russian universities, the curriculum of many courses, considerations of leading experts in the field of nonlinear dynamics and teaching it in universities, describes the concept of unique educational institution - College of Applied Sciences, the basis of teaching in which is the synergetic principle of detailed program – the course "Oscillations, waves, synergetics" for a school degree in the College of Applied Sciences. The journal annually publishes the best papers and lectures of periodic Conference for Schools "CHAOS", Winter Workshops on Microwave Electronics and Radiophysics, Nonlinear Days in Saratov for young scientists. In the 100th and the 110th anniversary of the Saratov State University each issue of the journal published materials concerned with the University’s history.

The design of the journal is also quite unique. The journal has a readership of teachers, postgraduates and students of higher educational institutions, researchers, academic and research centers, and thus contributes to training nonlinear dynamics specialists.

The journal accepts manuscripts from Russian and foreign authors. Manuscripts should be submitted to the Editorial Board of the journal "Izvestiya VUZ. Applied Nonlinear Dynamics" to the following address: Astrakhanskaya 83, Saratov, 410012, Russia. Manuscripts should be submitted also in electronic form on a CD or by e-mail to the following address: and@nonlin.sgu.ru. The preferred format is LaTeX (see section "Guidelines for authors").
