Physics of open systems. Draft program for an Interdisciplinary lecture course

Autors:
Klimontovich Yury Lvovich, Lomonosov Moscow State University
Abstract:

The objective of the course is to present the fundamentals and problems united by the name "Physics of Open Systems". The course is interdisciplinary in its content and scientific and pedagogical focus. Such a course is being introduced into the curriculum of university education for the first time. At present, the ideas, methods and results of the course "Physics of Open Systems" should serve (at different levels of presentation!) as the foundation for the education of undergraduate and graduate students at universities, as well as the basis for the scientific activities of specialists in various fields - physicists and mathematicians, chemists and biologists, economists and sociologists. Naturally, specialists in various fields have been studying various processes and phenomena in open systems for many years. And, nevertheless, there is a whole range of new problems, the solution of which requires the development of new approaches to describing nonequilibrium processes in a variety of situations. The content of the scientific direction "Physics of Open Systems" is brief and largely conditional, it is determined by a list of keywords and concepts. In a short version, the course "Physics of Open Systems" is taught at the Physics Department of Moscow State University in the form of a special course "Statistical Theory of Open Systems" for 5 years. Starting from the spring semester, the course "Physics of Open Systems" will be taught to a wider audience. The program of the course "Physics of Open Systems" is original. It was discussed and approved by the Council of Deans of Physics Faculties of Russian Universities, at a meeting in Moscow at the Physics Department of the University.
