Abstract: 

Explosive instability in two electron beams - electromagnetic wave interaction is studied. Both cases of copropagating and contrapropagating beams are considered. The equations of three wave interaction are derived which describe the dynamics of slowly varying amplitudes. Numerical simulation of these equations with proper boundary conditions reveals the main features of the instability and shows the influence of different quantities on the starting conditions of oscillations.
