To the 70th anniversary of the Department of Electronics, Oscillations and Waves

On June 1, 2022, the Department of Electronics, Oscillations and Waves of SSU turned 70 years old. Over the years, the Department has passed a brilliant way. Three of its leaders at different times were rectors of Saratov State University. Graduates and staff of the department are known in the scientific world not only in our country, but also far beyond its borders.

On the 75th anniversary of Vladimir G. Yakhno

This year 2022, Vladimir Grigorievich celebrated his seventy-fifth anniversary. We, his students and colleagues, sincerely congratulate him on his birthday and wish him health, fulfillment of personal and creative plans!

“Computer metaphor”, interhemispheral asymmetry and species (spontaneous) knowledge of Homo sapiens

The purpose of this article is to supplement the discussion in the field of research and modeling of the process of cognition first with data from neuropsychology and interhemispheric asymmetry, and second with reflections on species’ (spontaneous) knowledge of Homo sapiens. I. The data of neuropsychology and interhemispheric asymmetry signify two differently directed and complementary ways of processing information and regulating the functions inherent in the brain.

Trubetskov Scientific School

The School of Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor Dmitry Ivanovich Trubetskov is a unique phenomenon widely known to the scientific community both in Russia and abroad. Its includes science, education and a lot of educational activities. The uniqueness of the School of D. I. Trubetskov is that it covers a wide range of current scientific areas: vacuum electronics, magnetoelectronics, nonlinear dynamics, etc. The School of D. I.

Scientific school of plasma nanotechnologies and plasma power engineering in Mining University

The article is written for the 55th Anniversary of St. Petersburg Mining University Plasma School. Purpose. It is needed to highlight the history of teaching and research physical branches at the Mining University, as well as reflect plasma nanotechnologies and plasma power engineering current trends in the work of the scientific school. Methods.

Scientific history fragments of the Big physical auditorium of Saratov University. Two Congresses – Two of Vavilovs

Purpose. Big physical lecture-hall plays important role in the life of the Saratov State University, founded in 1909. Possessing good acoustics, capacity, thoughtfulness of various details, magnificent interior, it has become the center for conducting scientific events of the highest rank. The purpose of the article is to talk about outstanding events (two scientific congresses) held in the walls of the hall, which had a significant impact on the development and organization of subsequent scientific research in Russia and the world. Methods.

The 100th anniversary of fractal geometry: From Julia and Fatou through Hausdorff and Besicovitch to Mandelbrot

The purpose of this article is to present the biographies of the main creators of fractal geometry from the moment the first ideas arose, when the term «fractal» did not exist, to the present day. The main subjects of the article are Julia, Fatou, Richardson, Hausdorff, Besicovitch and Mandelbrot. The fates of these people are rich in dramatic events, some are tragic. Methods.

Reconstruction of noisy system correlation dimension

Purpose. Measurement of correlation dimension is considered in a dynamic system with additive random noise. To determine the correlation dimension correctly, it is necessary to eliminate the shift of horizontal coordinate in the graph of the correlation integral caused by the increase in distance between the points due to addition of random noise. Methods.

From the history of the theory of dynamical systems: Problem of classification

Aim. The aim of the work is to study the history of ideas about the classification of dynamical systems, which are the most important objects of modern mathematics and having a huge number of applications. Solving the problem of classification allows you to take the first steps in understanding the structure of the system as a whole. Method. The study is based on an analysis of original works involving some of the memories of participants in the described events. Results.
