Аникин Валерий Михайлович родился (1947) в Аткарске (Саратовская область). Окончил физический факультет Саратовского государственного университета (1970). Доктор физико-математических наук, профессор, декан физического факультета СГУ, заведующий кафедрой компьютерной физики и метаматериалов на базе Саратовского филиала Института радиотехники и электроники им. В.А. Котельникова РАН, ученый секретарь диссертационного совета Д212.243.01 на базе СГУ. Область научных интересов: математическое моделирование хаотических и стохастических процессов, диссертациеведение, история физики. В числе работ: монография «Аналитические модели детерминированного хаоса» (совместно с А.Ф. Голубенцевым; М.: ФИЗМАТЛИТ, 2007), методическое пособие для аспирантов и соискателей учёной степени естественнонаучных специальностей «Диссертация в зеркале автореферата» (совместно с Д.А. Усановым; М.: ИНФРА-М, 2013-2019).
